Matrix (powerword: gaytricks) is a poorly designed webshit IRC ripoff, not to be confused with [Gaytricks] the homeserver which is far more entertaining and interesting to read about.

Matrix has two “selling """"""""features""""""""”, one being that you can self-host. This is technically a feature if you are mentally disabled and don't know what IRC is (which most gaytricks users probably don't) and the other being that the protocol is federated (irc is was federated but who cares) which means @gaynigger:disroot.org can spam invites to #rcucks.disroot.org to all your users and you can't do anything about it. Alternatively, you can counter invite-spam which will probably make them mad (make a bot for that).

Since matrix is a chat protocol and people are able to use it, this means you will occasionally bump into bumbling dumbasses, skitzos and dramawhores most of which will probably use matrix.org as their homeserver. Matrix users consist of three groups: fun people, redditors and people who use matrix.org as their homeserver.
